Issues with Diesel Fuel in Winter
Low-quality diesel fuel can pose a significant problem for drivers during the winter period. Fuel market expert Serhiy Kuyun noted that the risks are associated with a high content of paraffins in diesel, which can cause the fuel to thicken or even freeze. This issue has become particularly relevant considering the changes in the fuel market after 2022.
Recommendations for Drivers
After the specified year, Ukraine has increased fuel imports from southern countries, but it should be noted that these countries do not produce special winter grades of diesel fuel. This may lead to the use of low-quality fuel that does not meet the requirements for winter conditions. Kuyun recommends drivers to pay attention to:
- diesel produced in Northern and Western Europe;
- diesel from the USA, as it is better suited for use in cold weather;
- arctic diesel fuel for severe weather conditions.
It is also important to know where to find information about fuel quality. All documents for the fuel must be placed in the consumer corner at each gas station. This allows drivers to familiarize themselves with the characteristics of the fuel, which can help avoid potential problems with freezing or thickening of the fuel during the winter period.
This situation emphasizes the importance of controlling fuel quality, especially in winter cold conditions, when the risks for vehicles significantly increase. Drivers should be careful and conscious in choosing fuel to avoid unforeseen situations on the road. In this regard, information about fuel quality and its origin becomes critically important for ensuring safety and efficiency in operating cars in winter.
