Teens Robbed a Neighbor in Volyn and Used the Cash to Buy a Motorcycle

Підлітки пограбували сусіда у Волині та витратили гроші на новий мотоцикл.

Theft in Zabolottia

A 39-year-old woman from the village of Zabolottia in the Volyn region reported a large sum of money missing from her home after returning from a trip. The perpetrators turned out to be underage boys from the same village, who took advantage of her absence. Police investigation revealed that the suspects, born in 2010, had already spent the stolen funds, notably on purchasing a motorcycle. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers large-scale theft.

Rising Youth Crime

Meanwhile, in the Kroshnia district of Zhytomyr, a group of teenagers—including three brothers—has been linked to at least five recorded attacks. In a separate incident in Kyiv, a veteran of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who uses a prosthetic limb was robbed while walking his dog on European Union Avenue; the victim immediately called the emergency line 102 after a stranger snatched his phone.

Authorities have also sent to court a case involving two foreign nationals charged with stealing tobacco products in the Dnipro district of Kyiv. These incidents highlight a troubling uptick in criminal activity across Ukraine, particularly among young people.

Over the past few years, Ukraine has seen a concerning rise in juvenile delinquency, prompting public alarm. Cases like the theft in Zabolottia and the attacks in Zhytomyr underscore the urgent need for crime prevention measures, as well as targeted youth outreach and education. The ongoing investigations may serve as a critical step in addressing the growing problem of youth crime in the country.

The recent incident in Zabolottia is not an isolated case, as similar thefts have been reported in the region. For instance, teenagers in Volyn Region stole a significant amount from a woman and used the money to purchase a motorcycle. These alarming trends highlight the rising issue of youth crime in Ukraine, necessitating urgent community responses and preventive measures.
