Benjamin Netanyahu's Statement on Military Assistance

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called for a gradual end to American military aid, proposing the process start immediately and conclude within ten years. Israel currently receives $3.8 billion annually from the United States, and Netanyahu believes the time has come for the country to eliminate the remaining military support.

“I want to bring American financial support, the financial component of our military cooperation, down to zero. Because we receive $3.8 billion a year. And I think it's time for us to give up the rest of the military support,” Netanyahu stated.

U.S. Military Equipment Shipments to Israel

At the same time, large-scale deliveries of military equipment from the United States to Israel are being reported. According to reports, the U.S. delivered approximately 6,500 tons of ammunition and military gear to Israel within 24 hours. Two cargo ships arrived at the ports of Ashdod and Haifa, with the shipment including:

  • thousands of aerial and ground munitions
  • military trucks
  • JLTV light tactical vehicles
  • other equipment

Since the start of the joint U.S.-Israel operation against Iran, Jerusalem has received over 115,600 tons of military equipment and supplies, delivered via 403 airlifts and 10 sea shipments.

“Let's start now and do it over the next decade, over the next ten years, but I want to start now. I don't want to wait for the next Congress. I want to start now,” Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized.

Netanyahu's push to end U.S. military aid could signal a shift in Israel's strategy for ensuring its own security. Meanwhile, the active flow of U.S. military hardware amid the conflict with Iran shows that cooperation between the two countries remains strong, despite potential changes in financial support. This dynamic may reshape regional security and influence the development of new military strategies for both nations.

As Netanyahu's administration considers a phased reduction of U.S. military assistance, understanding the financial implications of Israel's ongoing conflict with Iran becomes even more crucial. The recent analysis highlights that the conflict has already cost Israel approximately $11.5 billion, raising questions about the allocation of these funds and their impact on national security.
