Upcoming Netflix Series 'Icebreaker'

Netflix is developing a new series based on the book 'Icebreaker', which will follow the story of figure skater Anastasia Allen and hockey player Nate Hawkins, a star on the university hockey team. The project is currently in the development stage, with no cast or release date announced yet.

The Creative Team

A skilled team is working on this adaptation. Amanda Lasher, known for her work on 'Gossip Girl' and 'The United', is the showrunner. Co-writer Jade Bartlett gained recognition for films like 'Road House', 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness', and 'Miller's Girl'. Executive producers include Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan, and Mina Lefevre.

Jade Bartlett shared:

'This story is full of ambitious, talented, and undeniably attractive characters. But the real highlight is that, above all, they are good, deeply caring people… and we can't get enough of them.' Jade Bartlett

The development of 'Icebreaker' reflects the growing trend among streaming platforms to adapt young adult literature, which can attract a broad audience. As Netflix continues to invest in new projects, the success of such series could influence the company's future content decisions in the romance and sports genres.
