Organizers of illegal departures from Ukraine through the unrecognized Transnistria
At the border with the unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic, Ukrainian border guards note that this area has become attractive for organizers of illegal departures. As reported by the press officer of the 2nd border detachment of the State Border Service, Yulia Halitska, the cost of such trips can reach amounts of $5 thousand, $20 thousand, and even more.
“Organizers who illegally transport people across the border use this territory for their activities. Prices for such trips range from $5 thousand, $20 thousand, and can be even higher,” said Yulia Halitska.
The main organizers of illegal departures are located abroad, while on the territory of Transnistria, drivers operate who help transport people from Ukraine to Moldova. Military of the State Border Service, Pavel, notes that the choice of this location is due to the weak security on the part of unrecognized Transnistria, which is controlled by Russia, financing it.
A representative of the State Border Service believes that the Transnistrian border guards operate under instructions and allow Ukrainian fugitives, who undergo filtration procedures and interrogations in Tiraspol, where they are intimidated and humiliated by local “law enforcement officers.” Meanwhile, FSB employees in Russia receive information about the location of Ukrainian military units and equipment.
During the border control with Transnistria, it has been found that this territory has become attractive for organizers of illegal departures from Ukraine due to weak security and cooperation with Russian structures. In addition, the cost of such trips can reach significant sums, which poses a serious risk for people who decide to use the services of organizers.
