Drone Strikes Target Four Cities in Russia's Bryansk Region, Causing Explosions and Power Outages

Внаслідок безпілотних атак на чотири міста Бринської області Росії сталися вибухи та збої в електропостачанні.

Bryansk Region Hit by Kamikaze Drone Assault

A series of kamikaze drone strikes created a tense night for residents of Russia's Bryansk region on February 12. Explosions were heard in several locations, including the cities of Bryansk, Dyatkovo, Fokino, and Sel'tso. The blasts occurred around midnight, leading to significant regional disruption. This attack is part of a pattern of strikes on Russian territory that have increased in frequency and range since the start of the full-scale invasion.

In Bryansk specifically, power supply interruptions were recorded, resulting in complete blackouts on some streets and voltage fluctuations. Reports indicate possible fires caused by falling debris or direct drone impacts. In response to the attacks, a missile threat and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) danger regime was declared across the region. Russian air defense systems reported shooting down several aerial targets during the assault.

At the time of publication, no official data was available regarding the scale of destruction or potential casualties. This nighttime attack follows a series of earlier events. On the evening of February 7, the city of Belgorod was left without electricity, and that same night, Ukraine's Security Service struck the Redkino Experimental Chemical Plant in Tver region, which manufactures fuel components for Kh-55 and Kh-101 missiles.

Reactions and Implications

Commenting on the situation, it was noted that power supply problems arose at the Luch Thermal Power Plant, a consequence of Russian President Vladimir Putin's policies, according to Andriy Kovalenko.

This attack on the Bryansk region indicates an escalation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as well as an intensification of military action on Russian territory.

The events in Bryansk could become a significant factor in the further escalation of tensions between the two countries, given the previous strikes on strategic facilities inside Russia.
