Kharkiv Attack: Events of March 10

Russian forces launched an assault on Kharkiv, specifically targeting its Industrial District, using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the early hours of March 10. The attack ignited a fire that engulfed two cars. Windows in two multi-story residential buildings were shattered, and seven vehicles were damaged. A total of five people were injured in the incident, including:

  • A 16-year-old girl
  • A 41-year-old woman
  • A 36-year-old man, all of whom received on-site medical aid
  • A 51-year-old man, who sustained blast injuries and required hospitalization
  • A 43-year-old man, who sought medical attention following the strike

Previous Attack on March 7

This latest strike follows a prior attack that occurred around 1:35 AM on March 7, when a missile hit a five-story residential building in Kharkiv's Kyivskyi District. The consequences of that earlier assault were more severe, resulting in multiple casualties. Among those killed were:

  • An elementary school teacher from the Sixth Lyceum, along with her son
  • A 16-year-old eighth-grade student from the 16th Lyceum, together with her mother

In response to the victims of these attacks, the city of Kharkiv declared March 9 a day of mourning.

These strikes on Kharkiv are part of a concerning escalation of violence in northeastern Ukraine, which has intensified in recent weeks. The mounting civilian casualties and destruction highlight the grim reality for cities near the front line. The situation in the city remains tense, with authorities implementing measures to ensure public safety and provide aid to the victims. These events underscore the critical need for continued international support for Ukraine as it defends its territory and people.
