Kyiv Under Fire: May 24 Attack Details

In the early hours of May 24, Russia launched a coordinated assault on Kyiv using ballistic missiles and attack drones. The strikes killed one resident in the Shevchenkivskyi district and wounded 21 others, including a 15-year-old teenager. Thirteen victims required hospitalization, with three in serious condition; the remaining eight received medical treatment at the scene. This attack is part of a broader pattern of intensified aerial bombardments targeting Ukrainian urban centers.

Widespread Damage Across the Capital

Damage from the strikes was reported in every district of Kyiv. In Shevchenkivskyi, missile debris struck a 9-story and a 24-story residential building, shattered windows in several other homes, an office center, and vehicles. Fires broke out on the grounds of two schools. In Obolonskyi, a drone hit a 16-story apartment building between the 12th and 13th floors, as well as a single-story private house. One drone crashed and ignited near a residential building.

In Dniprovskyi, debris fell onto the roof of a residential building, and a drone struck a private home, damaging a warehouse and a garage cooperative.
