Kyiv Hit in Nighttime Strike: Four Apartment Buildings Damaged in Darnytskyi District

Нічна атака на Київ: чотири житлові будинки постраждали у Дарницькому районі.

Missile and Drone Attack Targets Kyiv's Darnytskyi District

In the early hours of February 12, 2026, Kyiv's Darnytskyi district came under attack from Russian missiles and drones. The assault resulted in damage to four multi-story residential buildings, with shattered windows, mangled balconies, and wrecked cars left in its wake. The explosions occurred around 3 a.m., causing widespread panic among residents. This attack is part of a pattern of strikes on civilian areas that has persisted since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022.

Eyewitness Accounts from Residents

Local residents described the terrifying events of that night.

“I heard the explosions and immediately went to the 'two walls' rule—into the hallway. Then a blast wave hit, and the windows flew in. Now the entire apartment is covered in glass, and the balcony is completely destroyed,” recounted a resident named Liubov.
Another local, Viacheslav, noted:
“We woke up from the blast. The window in the apartment was blown out, and the fixtures were broken. We were badly frightened, but the main thing is everyone is alive.”

Preliminary reports indicate one of the projectiles struck a private house in the Darnytskyi district. Additionally, falling debris landed near a residential building in the Dniprovskyi district. Fragments from a downed unmanned aerial vehicle crashed into an apartment on the top floor of one of the multi-story buildings.

OSB (oriented strand board) panels have already been delivered to the site to board up the broken windows, highlighting the urgency of the situation and the need to make the damaged premises habitable. The attack has left residents deeply concerned as they struggle to cope with the aftermath of the nighttime bombardment.

This strike is a consequence of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which began in 2014. Such bombardments inflict not only physical damage to infrastructure but also severe psychological stress on the local population. Authorities and emergency services are working to repair the damaged buildings, yet the tense situation underscores the continuing threat to civilians in the region.
