Overnight Strike on Kyiv: Two Dead, 20 Wounded

Нічний обстріл Києва: двоє загиблих і понад двадцять постраждалих.

Assault on Kyiv and Developments in Crimea

On July 2, Russian forces launched a combined missile and drone attack against the Ukrainian capital. The assault left two people dead and raised the number of injured to 20. A total of 28 locations across the city were damaged, including residential buildings and civilian infrastructure sites.

In Kyiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district, the victims include drivers and medical staff from an ambulance substation that was also hit. One paramedic remains in extremely critical condition. Timur Tkachenko reported:

“As of now, the number of casualties from the attack has risen to 20 people.”

Explosions in Occupied Crimea and Operational Adjustments

Meanwhile, explosions were heard overnight in occupied Crimea on the same date, believed to be the result of drone strikes. These blasts were reported in several cities, including:

  • Kerch
  • Simferopol
  • Sevastopol
  • Feodosia
  • Gvardiiske

The Tavriyska thermal power plant, located in the Simferopol district, was among the targets hit.

Against this backdrop, the WOG fuel station network introduced special operating conditions starting July 1 across multiple Ukrainian regions due to ongoing Russian shelling. This measure applies to:

  • Sumy Oblast
  • Chernihiv Oblast
  • Kharkiv Oblast
  • Zaporizhzhia Oblast
  • Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
  • Kherson Oblast
  • Parts of Poltava Oblast

These events highlight an escalation in hostilities within Ukraine, particularly regarding strikes on civilian sites and essential infrastructure. The rising casualty numbers underscore the severe situation in areas coming under fire. WOG’s shift to a special operational mode is a direct response to growing public safety threats and may affect fuel availability in the affected regions.

The recent strikes in Kyiv coincide with notable explosions in occupied Crimea, particularly targeting the Tavriyska thermal power plant. This escalation of military activity raises concerns over the ongoing conflict's impact on civilian safety and infrastructure.
