Massive Attack on Kyiv on May 24
On the night of May 24, Kyiv was hit by a large-scale assault that caused damage to the "Zelenyi Ostriv-1" and "Zelenyi Ostriv-2" residential complexes on Ihor Sikorskyi Street in the Shevchenkivskyi district. These buildings are located adjacent to the grounds of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. The strike shattered windows, balcony glazing, and loggia panels, and also damaged facade elements, the surrounding property, and parked cars.
In addition to the residential complexes, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine was hit for the third time, with broken windows and a damaged facade. Across the capital, authorities recorded damage at over 50 locations, including:
- apartment buildings
- a shopping center
- the Lukyanivka market
- the National Art Museum building
- the Chornobyl Museum
The enemy deployed an experimental ballistic missile called "Orieshnik" against Bila Tserkva. The exact number of casualties among residents of the damaged high-rises is still being determined. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the Chornobyl Museum and issued an urgent address in response to the events.
