Strike on the Shostka Community
During the night of April 29, Russian forces launched an attack on civilian infrastructure in the Shostka community using drones and a missile. The assault triggered large-scale fires in residential areas. Tragically, a 65-year-old woman died from carbon monoxide poisoning inside her home. Two other individuals sought medical assistance for their injuries.
Attacks in Kharkiv and Kyiv
Meanwhile, in Kharkiv, five drones struck the Nemyshlyanskyi, Osnovianskyi, and Slobidskyi districts. The attacks damaged over 30 private houses and five apartment buildings, with at least one person reported wounded. A fire broke out at a hypermarket parking lot in the Osnovianskyi district, while multiple impacts were recorded in the Nemyshlyanskyi area.
Earlier in the day, on April 28, Russian forces also targeted Kyiv with attack drones. Falling debris and direct hits were reported in the Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi districts. Commenting on the situation, Oleh Hryhorov stated:
“They deliberately struck homes where civilians live. The attack sparked massive fires in residential areas. Sadly, a 65-year-old resident died from carbon monoxide poisoning. My sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.” – Oleh Hryhorov
These events underscore the ongoing aggression by Russian forces against civilian populations and infrastructure in Ukraine. The targeting of residential neighborhoods causes not only physical destruction but also deep psychological trauma for local residents, highlighting the critical need for continued international support for Ukraine during this challenging period. Such attacks may also shape the future course of military operations and the country's defense strategy.
The recent attacks in Shostka and Kharkiv are part of a broader pattern of aggression that has affected multiple regions across Ukraine. In a similar incident, Russian forces targeted four Ukrainian areas overnight, resulting in widespread destruction and casualties. This escalation highlights the urgent need for international attention and support to address the ongoing crisis.
