Strike on the Capital on May 24

On the night of May 24, Russian forces launched one of the most powerful strikes on Kyiv in recent times. At least 83 people were injured, and there are also fatalities. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on the 1551st day of the war that the enemy used 90 missiles of various types, of which 36 were ballistic, as well as about 600 drones. The main target of this attack was Kyiv — damage has been recorded in all districts of the city.

Three Russian missiles struck a water supply facility, leading to a fire at a market, as well as damage to dozens of residential buildings and several schools. The shopping center 'Kvadrat' in Lukyanivka was completely burned out. The strike also affected Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Cherkasy regions. A missile launch from 'Oreshnik' was carried out towards Bila Tserkva. This attack serves as a reminder that Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure remain one of the main threats to the civilian population.

'The most hits were on Kyiv, and it was indeed Kyiv that was the primary target of this Russian attack.' Volodymyr Zelensky

The head of state urged international partners to provide air defense systems, stating: 'We need solutions from the United States of America, Europe, and others, so that this old oreshnik in Moscow can utter the word “peace”.'

This attack is yet another evidence of the escalation of the conflict that has been ongoing for more than five years and underscores the need for international support for Ukraine in countering aggression. Strengthening air defense systems is becoming a priority to protect cities and residents from constant shelling.

The latest escalation of the situation in Ukraine demonstrates not only Russia's military activity but also the urgent need for a response from the international community. President Zelensky's appeals to allies emphasize the importance of strengthening Ukraine's defense capability and developing air defense systems. In the face of a constant threat from the aggressor, support from Western countries becomes critically important for ensuring the safety of Ukrainian cities and their population.

While Kyiv has become the target of a large-scale attack, other regions of Ukraine are also suffering the consequences of military actions. Recent strikes on Dnipro, Odesa, and Kharkiv region confirm that the threat from Russia extends across the entire country, highlighting the need for enhanced international support to protect civilians.
