Swearing-In Ceremony for the New Dutch Cabinet
On February 23, a new Dutch cabinet was sworn in at the Noordeinde Palace. This marks the third new government to be formed in just over four years. King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands signed the decree appointing Dick Schoof as Prime Minister and approved the new government, which consists of 17 ministers and 10 state secretaries. Schoof now leads a coalition of four political parties.

At 38 years old, Rob Jetten has become the youngest Prime Minister in Dutch history. The new Foreign Minister, Tom Berendsen, is a member of the European Parliament, while Ruben Brekelmans has been appointed as Defence Minister. The ceremony took place as Europe prepared to mark the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This political transition occurs at a critical time for European security. Ruben Brekelmans remarked:
"Russia's imperial ambitions do not stop at Ukraine but are directed towards Europe" - Ruben Brekelmans
He added that Russia has placed its economy on a war footing and shows no signs of abandoning its aggressive plans.
