Germany denied rumors about the deportation of Ukrainians: there will be no mass return

Німеччина спростувала чутки про примусове повернення українців: масових висилок не буде.

Denial of deportation rumors

The German government denied rumors about a possible deportation of Ukrainian men of draft age, stating that there will be no mass forced returns due to the lack of legal grounds. This information was provided in response to a parliamentary inquiry from the 'Alternative for Germany' (AfD) party in December 2025.

According to available data, extradition is only possible under the 1957 European Convention, however, there are no checks on Ukrainians in Germany regarding their relations with territorial recruitment centers (TRC). This indicates that Ukrainians who are on German territory are not subject to forced deportation.

Statistics of Ukrainian men in Germany

As of the end of October 2025, there are 328,363 Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 living in Germany. The largest group among them consists of 168,000 individuals aged 25 to 45 years. These facts confirm that Ukrainians who are in Germany can remain there without fear of forced extradition.

This statement from the German government is important for Ukrainian citizens who find themselves in the country during a difficult time. It emphasizes that the German authorities have no intention of conducting mass deportations, which in turn may reduce the level of anxiety among Ukrainians. Such decisions also indicate Germany's support in the context of the humanitarian needs of Ukrainian refugees, which is relevant in light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
