Norris Wins Battle Against Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren
In the first segment of qualifying, Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, Sergio Perez, and Valtteri Bottas were eliminated. Oliver Berman and Lance Stroll did not even take to the track.
The second segment marked the end for Nico Hülkenberg, Gabriel Bortoleto, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda, and Alexander Albon. Representatives of the leading teams advanced to the final segment, with the main battle for pole taking place among Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren.
Lando Norris was the fastest in the final attempt. The McLaren driver completed the lap in 1:31.824, claiming the 19th starting position No. 1 in his career.
For the Briton, this result continues a successful streak in the second half of the season. At the end of August, he won in Zandvoort, and Lando Norris's salary at McLaren in 2026 is estimated at around $30 million per season without bonuses.

The second-best qualifier was Andrea Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes. Thus, the Italian will line up alongside Norris from the front row.
