Khrystyna Goranyak Addresses Rumors of a Romance with Nestor Shufrych
Notary Khrystyna Goranyak has responded to speculation about a possible romantic relationship with MP Nestor Shufrych, clarifying that their connection stems from her father's business dealings and a friendship dating back to their childhood. Shufrych, a member of the banned pro-Russian party OPFL, is currently under investigation for state treason.
Goranyak, the ex-wife of TV presenter Volodymyr Ostapchuk, stated:
“If everyone wants to know this story, they can study my biography—where I'm from, what business my father was in, who Nestor Ivanovych is to our family, how they are connected, where I worked.”She emphasized her reluctance to comment further, believing the matter is irrelevant to her current life. This case highlights how personal histories can become entangled with Ukraine's complex political landscape.
The Case Against Nestor Shufrych
According to the SBU, Shufrych collaborated with Volodymyr Sivkovych, who fled to Moscow in 2014. Shufrych was formally suspected of state treason in September 2023 and has now been held in pre-trial detention for 2.5 years. Reports indicate he has been unable to post the bail set by an appellate court.
Goranyak also noted she has repeatedly been labeled Shufrych's mistress, with one woman, Olena, even describing her as a 'professional lover.' The notary expressed bewilderment at the term:
“I always wanted to ask: so am I a certified lover, or what? When people say something, there should be some basis for it.”
Thus, Khrystyna Goranyak continues to avoid discussing her personal ties to Nestor Shufrych, stressing that their shared history belongs to a past that does not affect her present.
