Tiina Intelmann Takes Up Diplomatic Post in Ukraine
On 7 August, Estonia's newly arrived ambassador, Tiina Intelmann, took the first formal step of her posting in Ukraine by handing copies of her credentials to Yevhen Perebyinis, Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister. The Estonian embassy in Ukraine announced the development on Facebook. During the meeting, the two sides talked about current bilateral cooperation issues and reaffirmed their commitment to coordinating future actions in support of Ukraine's path toward European and Euro-Atlantic integration. The submission of credentials is a standard diplomatic formality that officially launches an ambassador's assignment in the host country.
The Professional Background of Tiina Intelmann
Intelmann brings a long track record in diplomacy, with a wide range of senior appointments. Before being named to the Ukraine post for 2024–2026, she served as Estonia's ambassador-at-large for mediation and multilateral affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2021 to 2023, she led the European Union's delegation to Somalia as the bloc's ambassador. Her earlier postings include Estonia's ambassador to the United Kingdom (2017–2021) and, from 2014 to 2017, EU ambassador and head of delegation to Liberia.

Intelmann's appointment as Estonia's ambassador to Ukraine underscores how important the relationship is for both countries, which already work closely together on security and development matters.
