Updated Storage Duration for Shipments
Starting October 1, 2023, Nova Poshta has shortened the free storage period for most shipments held at their branches from seven days to five. This new policy applies to:
- parcels
- documents
- cargo
- tires
- claims
If shipments are not collected within five days, storage fees will begin accruing from the sixth day onward, following the company’s standard pricing. Delivery fees remain unchanged.
Reasons Behind the Change
The free storage period for pallets remains at three days. The decision to reduce storage time is primarily driven by safety concerns, particularly due to the risk of damage or loss linked to potential Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure. According to Nova Poshta, around 97% of customers pick up their shipments within the first five days, demonstrating active engagement during this timeframe.
This adjustment is likely to influence how customers manage their parcel pickups and plan around the new storage rules.
This reduction in free storage reflects Nova Poshta’s response to the evolving security landscape in Ukraine. It encourages customers to retrieve their shipments promptly under the updated guidelines.
Amid rising threats of possible attacks, the company aims to maintain service efficiency while minimizing risks associated with storing goods.
In light of these changes, customers may also be interested in how other postal services are adapting to the evolving landscape. For instance, Ukrposhta has recently introduced Apple Pay and Google Pay options as part of their efforts to enhance convenience and security for users. This shift towards digital payments reflects a broader trend in the logistics sector, aiming to streamline services amid rising security concerns.
