Nova Poshta Suspends Operations in Druzhkivka
Due to a critical security situation and ongoing enemy shelling of the city, the logistics operator Nova Poshta has decided to temporarily close all physical branches in Druzhkivka, Donetsk region. The suspension will be carried out in two stages throughout June. Branch No. 3 completely ceased operations on June 9, while Branch No. 1 will remain open to visitors until June 18, after which it will also be temporarily closed.
Despite the closure of physical branches, nine parcel lockers continue to operate within Druzhkivka. During the suspension period, the company has offered employees positions at branches in safer regions of Ukraine.
“The parcel lockers will remain operational as long as the company can ensure stable and, most importantly, safe logistics for our drivers and couriers,” reads the company’s official statement.
Worsening Security Situation
This development comes amid a deteriorating security environment in the region, which has also seen other incidents in recent days. For instance, police are investigating an explosion at a postal terminal in Kyiv’s Obolon district that left one person dead and two others injured. The blast occurred during an inspection of one of the packages, and the event has been classified as a terrorist act.
The suspension of Nova Poshta’s branches in Druzhkivka is a direct response to the challenging security conditions in the area, highlighting the importance of safety measures for both employees and customers. At the same time, the explosion in Kyiv signals an escalation of terrorist threats in Ukraine, which could impact the operations of logistics and other services nationwide. It remains crucial to monitor the situation closely, as it may significantly affect businesses and the daily lives of citizens in conflict-affected regions.
The recent closure of Nova Poshta branches in Druzhkivka underscores the escalating threats faced by logistics companies in Ukraine. This situation is reminiscent of the recent drone strike that severely damaged a Nova Poshta facility in Lymanka, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures in the logistics sector.
