Ukraine to Launch New Childcare Benefits in 2026: Eligibility and Application Details

Нові виплати на догляд за дітьми в Україні: умови отримання та особливості подачі заявок у 2026 році.

New State Support Programs for Families with Children

Starting January 1, 2026, Ukraine will introduce two new state-funded benefits for families with young children. These initiatives are designed to provide crucial financial assistance during key developmental stages. The move is part of broader social reforms aimed at supporting parents in the workforce.

Types of Benefits Available

  • Infant Care Benefit (up to one year old) is payable until the month the child turns one. Parents must apply to the Pension Fund of Ukraine no later than the month following the child's first birthday. For instance, parents of children born in January 2025 can apply for the benefit covering January and up to February 2026.

  • 'eYasla' Benefit (up to three years old) supports childcare until the child turns three. Parents whose children turn three in January 2026 and who work full-time must apply by the end of January 2026. The 'eYasla' benefit will be granted starting from the month of application.

These policy changes aim to bolster support for families with children and ensure their needs are met during early childhood.

The introduction of these new benefits marks a significant step in supporting Ukrainian families, particularly amid ongoing economic challenges. Providing financial aid during periods when children require intensive care can help improve living standards and alleviate social pressure on parents. This policy may also positively influence the country's demographic trends by encouraging young families to have children.
