Briefing at Media Center Ukraine
At a briefing held at the Media Center Ukraine, officials from the Ministry of Social Policy and the Pension Fund of Ukraine unveiled upcoming reforms to state financial aid for families with children. These changes, set to take effect on January 1, 2026, will include increased payments for pregnancy, childbirth, and a one-time birth grant. This policy shift comes as part of broader efforts to support Ukrainian families during a challenging period.
New Forms of State Assistance
The reforms will also introduce several new types of state support. Specifically, the government will provide:
- a childcare allowance for children up to one year of age;
- a childcare subsidy known as 'eYasla'.
According to briefing participants, these measures are designed to improve conditions for families with children and strengthen support for parenthood across Ukraine.
To access the new child benefits, Ukrainian citizens must apply at a service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. It was also noted that applications for the one-time birth grant and the 'Baby Package' can be submitted via the 'eMaliatko' (eBaby) online service.
"The Pension Fund operates on an extraterritorial principle, allowing citizens to apply at any branch regardless of their registered place of residence."
Yevheniia Kapinus, Chairperson of the Board of the Pension Fund of Ukraine
Furthermore, the Pension Fund's online portal offers the option to schedule an appointment for a specific day and time. Citizens may also submit their documents by mail to the address of the relevant territorial office of the Fund.
These adjustments to the state aid system represent a significant step in supporting Ukrainian families with children, particularly amid rising economic pressures. The new forms of assistance are expected to improve the financial situation of young parents, which could, in turn, contribute to an increase in the national birth rate. The implementation of these initiatives reflects the state's commitment to bolstering parenthood and ensuring better conditions for raising children in the current environment.
