An Overhaul of the Preventive Vaccination Schedule
Ukraine will implement a revised national immunization schedule effective January 1, 2026. A central feature of this update is the widespread adoption of modern combination vaccines, designed to provide children with more effective protection against dangerous infectious diseases. This move aligns with global public health trends aimed at simplifying and strengthening routine immunization.
Benefits and Schedule of the New Vaccines
Under the new schedule, vaccinations will be administered at 2, 4, 6, and 18 months of age. A key vaccine to be introduced is the DTaP+Hib+HepB combination, which protects against pertussis (whooping cough), diphtheria, tetanus, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) infection, and hepatitis B. On the same days and according to the same schedule, it is recommended to administer the inactivated polio vaccine (IPV).
The introduction of these new combination vaccines aims to reduce stress for children during vaccination appointments and to save time and increase convenience for parents. Providing timely, comprehensive protection for children is a priority of the updated schedule, which is expected to raise the overall immunization rate across the country.
