How Eleqglipron Could Transform Blood Sugar Management
An oral GLP-1 receptor agonist called eleqglipron has shown strong promise in lowering blood sugar levels and reducing body weight. The findings come from a Phase 2b trial funded by AstraZeneca and published in The Lancet. The study involved 406 adults across nine countries.
After 26 weeks of treatment, nearly 90% of participants taking eleqglipron reached a glycated hemoglobin target of under 7%. In contrast, only a quarter of those in the placebo group achieved the same result. Additionally, more than 72% of volunteers lost at least 5% of their total body weight.
Side effects observed during the trial were consistent with the safety profile of this class of medications. These results highlight eleqglipron’s potential as a new tool for managing diabetes and weight.
