New bill on NABU and farewell to commander Lyut: main news for July 24

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted a bill to the Verkhovna Rada regarding the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP).


The new bill aims to guarantee the strengthening of the institutional independence of anti-corruption bodies and ensure their protection from external influences and interference.

It was noted that the bill was developed with the participation of anti-corruption agencies that urge for its swift adoption in the Verkhovna Rada.



Tragedy involving a four-year-old boy


In Kyiv, a four-year-old boy died after falling from the 21st floor window. According to preliminary police data, the child was playing in the room with his sister while their mother was in the kitchen. As a result, the child fell out of the window, sustaining injuries incompatible with life.


The circumstances of this tragedy are currently under investigation.



Enhanced checks at railway stations


Due to increased security at railway stations, more thorough checks of passengers will be conducted when boarding trains.


Groups of armed guards will operate at the stations selectively, and train crews have received instructions for detailed checks of passenger data.



Consequences of the attack on Odesa


As a result of a massive drone attack by Russian terrorists on Odesa, numerous fires and damage to residential buildings were recorded. Rescuers managed to find the body of a 32-year-old man under the rubble of one of the buildings destroyed by the drones.


The incident is ongoing as work continues to mitigate the aftermath of the attack and dismantle damaged structures.



Farewell to hero Maksym Kazban


A farewell ceremony took place at Independence Square for the commander of the Lyut Brigade, Maksym Kazban, who died fighting for Ukraine's independence. Maksym Kazban was known for his military career and participation in special operations in the east of the country.


It is worth noting that 1247 days have passed since the start of the war.
