Launch of Nox Mobility’s Premium Night Train

German startup Nox Mobility is set to begin operating a premium night train service between Hamburg and Munich on March 23, 2027. This train will run three times weekly in both directions, making stops in Bremen and Augsburg. One-way tickets will be available starting from €65 (approximately £55).

The train will depart Hamburg at 21:22 every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, arriving in Munich at 08:14 the following morning. The return journey will leave Munich at 21:20 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, reaching Hamburg by 08:27.

Enhanced Comfort and Future Plans

Nox Mobility’s trains feature private Nox Suite cabins, offering passengers individual space equipped with a large seat, table, luggage storage, and power outlets. The seat reclines into a two-meter-long bed positioned next to the window. By 2029, the company plans to introduce Nox Rooms—private compartments designed for one or two travelers. To bring this project to life, the startup has secured initial funding of €2 million.

Looking ahead, Nox Mobility aims to link 100 European cities with night train services by 2035. This initiative responds to a significant decline in night train availability across Europe, which fell from about 1,200 weekly services in 2001 to just 450 by 2019.

The arrival of Nox Mobility’s night trains could mark a turning point for rail travel’s resurgence in Europe, underscoring growing demand for more comfortable and eco-friendly transportation options.

Meanwhile, Ryanair’s expansion plans in the airline sector highlight increasing competition, which may impact airfare pricing and availability in the coming years.
