This local maintenance is part of a larger, nationally funded effort to improve Ukraine's road network. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated 3 billion hryvnias from the state budget's reserve fund for urgent repairs to heavily trafficked roads of national importance. Furthermore, the government has distributed 12.6 billion hryvnias, earmarked in the state budget for 2026, for the repair and maintenance of public roads. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that approximately 52 billion hryvnias are currently needed for road repairs across Ukraine. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has detailed the funding structure and expenditure plans, emphasizing that the Cabinet has already calculated the costs for pothole repairs on national and local roads, with particular attention given to logistics in frontline areas.
Kyivavtodor has apologized for the temporary inconvenience and asks drivers to consider these restrictions when planning their routes.
The repairs in Kyiv are a component of a broader program to upgrade Ukraine's road infrastructure, which has received funding from the state budget. Given the high traffic volumes and the critical need to maintain road quality, especially near conflict zones, the government is taking steps to ensure driver safety and comfort. While these works are expected to improve the capital's transport situation in the long term, drivers should anticipate possible traffic congestion during the repair period.
