Ukraine Unveils Military Strategy for 2026
At the international OFDEF conference, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense, Serhii Boiev, presented the nation's military strategy for 2026. According to his address, the total funding required to implement these defense plans will reach $120 billion. Ukraine intends to cover $60 billion of this sum through its domestic budget and loans from the European Union.
Core Priorities of the Defense Strategy
A central pillar of Ukraine's defense strategy is the ambitious goal of manufacturing over 7 million drones in 2026. A key objective is to extend the operational strike range of these drones to 100 kilometers. Serhii Boiev noted that a comprehensive strategy has been developed with partners, focusing on several critical areas:
- Protecting Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure;
- Stabilizing the front line;
- Disrupting Russian logistics deep behind enemy lines;
- Striking strategic enemy targets.
To achieve these goals, the plan emphasizes several key capabilities. These include air defense and missile defense systems, interceptor missiles, and domestically produced unmanned aerial vehicles. There will also be a strong focus on long-range artillery ammunition.
Serhii Boiev stressed that the speed of decision-making and delivery is crucial, as every interceptor missile saves lives and protects vital infrastructure.
