Decision on mandatory evacuation
The Defense Council of the Chernihiv region has made a decision on mandatory evacuation from 14 border villages due to daily shelling. This decision is a response to the escalation of the military situation in the region, where regular attacks by Russian invaders are ongoing.
Evacuation will be carried out from four communities:
- Novhorod-Siverskyi
- Semenivka
- Snovsk
- Horodnia
Currently, about 300 people remain in the Chernihiv region living in these settlements. In 2023, more than 1,400 residents left the border area, indicating an active evacuation process.
Evacuation plan and situation in the region
According to the decision, the evacuation must be completed within 30 days. On the night of December 30, Chernihiv region was again shelled, which led to damage to an important energy facility in the Chernihiv district.
“Now there is an official decision on mandatory evacuation”
Vyacheslav Chaus, head of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration
He also emphasized that “all necessary services are involved in the process” and “guaranteed places for temporary accommodation” are available. This decision reflects the seriousness of the military threat in the Chernihiv region and the need to protect the civilian population.
Mandatory evacuation aims to reduce risks for people who remain in dangerous conditions and ensure their safety amid the ongoing conflict. The situation in the region remains tense, and further actions by the authorities will be aimed at supporting residents who are going through difficult times.
