Mandatory Insurance for Trips to Poland: What Ukrainians Need to Know

Before traveling to Poland, Ukrainians need to check their documents, including the insurance policy, which is mandatory for all categories of travelers. Medical insurance is an important component for safe stays abroad, and its availability is a condition for entering Poland.

Requirements for Medical Insurance

For short-term trips, Ukrainians need to have a policy that covers emergency medical assistance, valid for 3–30 days. In the case of longer stays, the insurance must have a minimum coverage of 30 thousand euros and be valid for at least three months. It is important that the document is issued by a licensed Ukrainian insurance company.

In addition, for short-term trips, it is necessary to have a biometric passport, which must be valid for at least three months. According to the requirements, travelers must also ensure they have financial resources:

  • at least 300 zlotys for the first four days of stay;
  • 75 zlotys for each subsequent day.

Ukrainians with biometric passports have the right to stay in the Schengen area for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.

Public medical insurance through the National Health Fund (NFZ) is provided only for employed individuals and students. Therefore, when planning a trip to Poland, Ukrainians should pay special attention to arranging medical insurance to avoid unforeseen situations during their stay in the country.

This information is important for Ukrainians planning a trip to Poland, as complying with the requirements for medical insurance can prevent significant expenses in the event of medical problems abroad.
