Kyiv to Begin Tick Control Treatments on May 4: These Areas Will Be Off-Limits for Three Days

У Києві стартують заходи з контролю за кліщами з 4 травня: деякі райони будуть закриті для відвідування протягом трьох днів.

Acaricide Treatment in the Sviatoshyn District

From May 4 to May 8, 2026, the Sviatoshyn district of Kyiv will undergo acaricide treatment on designated municipal lands to control tick populations. The spraying will begin each day at 7:00 AM. After treatment, residents are advised to avoid walking in these areas for at least 72 hours.

The treatment will cover parks and public squares, where pet owners are also urged not to walk their animals during this period. In Ukraine, tick season lasts into late autumn, with peak activity occurring in May–June and September–October. These parasites can latch onto clothing or skin unnoticed during outdoor activities, making it essential to follow safety guidelines.

List of Parks and Recommendations

The parks scheduled for treatment include:

  • Potapov Park
  • Hamburg Park
  • Sovky Park
  • International Park
  • Park on Orest Vaskula Street

Acaricide spraying will also take place in several public squares, such as:

  • Reutsky Square
  • Square at the intersection of Hryhorovych-Barsky and Symyrenko Streets
  • Square between Hetman Kyrylo Rozumovsky and Myroslav Popovych Streets
  • Additional squares on other city streets

After treatment, it is strongly recommended to wash hands thoroughly, and pet owners should rinse their animals' paws after visiting parks. Following these precautions can help reduce the risk of tick bites and ensure safer time spent outdoors.

Acaricide treatment is a key preventive measure against ticks, which can carry dangerous diseases.

As tick activity rises during warmer months, these efforts help lower public health risks. Paying attention to the guidelines will support safer outdoor recreation and protect the well-being of both people and animals.

As the acaricide treatments commence in the Sviatoshyn district, it's essential to stay informed about other areas in Kyiv where tick control measures are being implemented. Understanding which locations remain safe for outdoor activities can help residents plan accordingly.
