On the night of December 13, Mykolaiv and the region became targets of one of the largest attacks. The head of the city, Oleksandr Senkevych, reported that critical infrastructure, industrial facilities, and the private sector were damaged as a result of the shelling. More than three local residents were injured.
Basic power supply installations in the Bashtanka and Mykolaiv districts were left without power, as well as critical infrastructure facilities in Mykolaiv itself. Electric transport services were temporarily suspended. Rescue services are on site working to eliminate the consequences and transition to alternative power sources.
The local thermal power plant has been launched, and connections to other facilities are being established. Boiler houses have switched to generator operation, which has allowed for heating to be provided for over 85% of consumers. Municipal water supply is also functioning on backup power.
Response and Assistance
There are 37 assistance points in the city where people can receive water and necessary items. The power supply in some areas is gradually being restored, and the schedule for power outages is temporarily suspended. Energy workers are working at maximum capacity to restore power to the city as quickly as possible.
Attack in Odesa
This night, Odesa and the region were subjected to one of the largest air attacks since the war began in the region. Russian forces launched about 300 means of destruction, including kamikaze drones and various missiles and missile systems.
The targets were power plants, ports, gas pipelines, industrial and civilian structures. Many areas of Odesa and the region were left without electricity, leading to problems with water supply and heating.
After the night attacks in Mykolaiv and Odesa, the cities are left without some types of urban communications and vital services. Only rapid restoration of power supply and infrastructure will help avoid major problems for the residents of the regions.
