Latvia has banned the entry of 14 Russian lugers: details of the decision

Латвія заборонила в'їзд 14 російським санкарям: подробиці рішення.

The Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs has added 14 Russian athletes from luge to the list of undesirable persons. This means they will not be able to participate in the upcoming World Cup stage scheduled for January in Latvia. The President of the Russian Luge Federation previously reported this, complaining about the restrictions imposed on Russians in Latvia.

'I have made the decision to include 14 citizens of the Russian Federation on the list of persons undesirable for the Republic of Latvia. The entry ban is set for an indefinite period,' said Braze.

It also turned out that one of the Russian figure skaters was present at an event organized by Russian President Putin. This was a violation of the IOC's recommendations on athlete neutrality. Athletes should not participate in political events to avoid interference in politics and maintain sporting neutrality.
