The President of the Ukrainian Figure Skating Federation, Danil Amirkhanov, appealed to the Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klychko, to intervene in the situation surrounding the capital's ice rink 'Kryzhynka'. According to the UFFC, there is a threat of closure for the rink, which serves as a training base for two children's sports schools in figure skating - 'Lider' and 'Syuita'.

“It has become known that as of January 1, 2026, the activities of the rink will cease due to the sale of the building for other uses,” noted Danil Amirkhanov.

The UFFC President emphasized that in the context of Russian aggression aimed at destroying sports infrastructure, the rink 'Kryzhynka' is an important base for the development of figure skating among children and youth. The closure of this base is a serious interference in the sports activities of Ukrainian athletes. The President also noted that stopping the closure of the rink and thoroughly studying the situation requires the participation of the coaching staff and the parents' committee of the children's sports schools, who also expressed their outrage over this situation.

The report also indicates that Russian figure skater Alexandra Saitina participated in an event that the ISU deemed a violation of the IOC recommendations regarding neutral athletes. Supporters of the Russian regime and military personnel participated during President Putin's address to the Federal Assembly.

The overall situation regarding the threat of closure of the sports training base is important for Ukrainian athletes; therefore, resolving this issue will be a significant step towards preserving figure skating in Ukraine.
