Monitoring the condition of sea water in Odesa

Experts from the Ukrainian Scientific Center for the Ecology of the Sea are monitoring the condition of sea water in Odesa after a hostile attack that led to pollution in the coastal area. This was reported by the head of the Odesa City Military Administration, Serhiy Lysak. It is noted that work is underway on the coastline to localize and eliminate the pollution.

Situation on the coast

In particular, pollution spots and dead birds were found in the area of the Dolphin and Lanzheron beaches. The burning of containers with flour and vegetable oil, which occurred as a result of the hostile attack on the 'Pivdennyi' port, caused combustion products and vegetable oil to enter the waters of the Black Sea. It is also worth noting that on December 24, the 'Pivdennyi' port was opened for the entry and exit of vessels.

This situation highlights the importance of monitoring the ecological condition of coastal waters, especially in the context of military conflicts. Pollution of the marine ecosystem can have serious consequences for local flora and fauna, as well as for public health. Authorities continue to take measures to minimize the consequences; however, it is also important to ensure a long-term solution to the pollution problem caused by military actions.
