Overnight Drone Strikes Hit Residential Buildings in Odesa, Leaving One Woman Injured

Удар дронів уночі по житловим будинкам в Одесі призвів до поранення жінки.

Attacks on Odesa’s Residential Neighborhoods Continue

On the night of June 10, drones struck the Prymorskyi district of Odesa, damaging two apartment buildings. In one of them, a unit on the fifth floor was completely destroyed by fire. Emergency crews from the State Emergency Service quickly extinguished the blaze, but a 46-year-old female resident sustained injuries and was hospitalized.

At another location, a drone damaged the facade and windows of an 11th-floor apartment, causing property loss for the residents. These incidents are part of a recurring pattern. Just days earlier, on June 7, drones targeted residential zones and a church in Odesa and the nearby city of Chornomorsk. That attack left a 41-year-old man with shrapnel wounds.

Growing Tensions in the Region

On May 28, a drone struck a private home in the southern part of Odesa Oblast. The situation escalated further when, on the night of May 29, a Russian drone crossed into Romanian airspace and crashed into a multi-story residential building in Galati. Romania’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the drone was Russian, prompting Bucharest to notify NATO and initiate diplomatic consultations.

Since the start of June, over a dozen beaches in the region have reopened, but civilian safety remains a pressing concern amid ongoing attacks.

These events highlight the rising instability in the area and the persistent threats faced by civilians. The repeated drone strikes on residential zones underscore the dangerous reality for Odesa’s residents and raise serious questions about the safety of coastal recreation, especially with beaches now open. The international community’s response to these incidents remains critical, as they could have broader implications for regional security.

The ongoing drone attacks in Odesa have raised significant concerns about civilian safety and the stability of the region.
