Launch of the eCherha Electronic Queue System
The Odesa region has been selected as the pilot area for the rollout of the eCherha electronic queue system, designed specifically for passenger vehicles. The system is scheduled to go live in June of this year. Motorists will be able to join the queue through the popular Diia app, as well as via the eCherha website and mobile application. This initiative aims to streamline access to services for drivers, reducing wait times and improving convenience.
Road Repairs and Safety Improvements
Alongside this digital development, in March the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allocated UAH 3 billion from the state budget's reserve fund for urgent road maintenance repairs. Looking ahead, UAH 12.6 billion has been earmarked for road repair and upkeep in 2026. As of May 1, over 7.2 million square meters of road surface have already been restored, reflecting active efforts to upgrade infrastructure.
Road conditions remain a challenge this year. In 2024, police documented 332 traffic accidents caused by poor road conditions, out of a total of 475 recorded crashes. By comparison, in 2021 there were 849 such accidents due to similar issues, meaning the number of road-related crashes dropped by roughly one-third in 2024 versus 2021. These figures underscore the critical need to continue road repair work to enhance traffic safety.
The introduction of the eCherha electronic queue system in the Odesa region has the potential to significantly ease the process of obtaining services for motorists, which could boost overall public satisfaction. At the same time, ongoing road repairs are essential for reducing accident rates and improving road safety, as the statistics already show a positive downward trend in crashes. Combining these initiatives could contribute to a broad improvement of Ukraine's transportation infrastructure.
