Odessa hockey club 'Storm' halts participation in the Ukrainian championship due to a crisis of trust

Хокейний клуб «Шторм» з Одеси призупинив участь у чемпіонаті України через проблеми з довірою.

Halting of club 'Storm' participation in the Ukrainian championship

The Odessa hockey club 'Storm' has announced the suspension of its participation in the Ukrainian championship due to a crisis of trust in the leadership of the Hockey Federation of Ukraine. The club made this decision, pointing to the systematic disregard by the organizers of the championship for the principles of sporting equality and fairness. The last match of 'Storm' was scheduled for December 28 against the team 'Kryzhynka'.

At the time of the suspension, 'Storm' was in fourth place in the standings, having 17 points. However, the team did not demonstrate stability in its performances, winning only one of the last six matches. Additionally, it is worth noting that the club 'Kryzhynka' also suspended its participation in the championship due to the actions of the Hockey Federation of Ukraine, but later decided to resume play in the championship after negotiations with the HFU.

Problems in Ukrainian hockey

The press service of the club 'Storm' stated that the existing problems are a deliberate deception of fans and specialists, making the club's further participation in competitions impossible. Thus, the situation in the Ukrainian hockey championship remains tense, and the further development of events around 'Storm' and other teams raises concerns among fans and sports participants.

The halting of club 'Storm' participation in the Ukrainian championship underscores the problems faced by hockey in the country, related to the management policies of the Hockey Federation of Ukraine. This decision may have consequences not only for the club itself but also for the overall stability and reputation of Ukrainian hockey, as other teams may follow their example if the situation does not change. Fans and specialists hope for a prompt resolution of the conflict and the restoration of stability in competitions.
