As part of a new aid package for the Ukrainian army, Latvia delivered modern Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers – multipurpose armored vehicles that have already proven their effectiveness in combat conditions. This is reported by 'Glavkom' citing the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Ambassador Valery Churkin thanked the Latvian government for the provided weapons. These armored personnel carriers have been serially produced since 2021 as part of a joint program between Finland, Estonia, and Latvia.

In addition to the Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers, Latvia has provided Ukraine with a significant amount of weapons and equipment. The details are not disclosed, however, according to the Ministry of Defense, all transferred equipment will strengthen the Ukrainian army. Meetings with defense manufacturers from partner countries also took place in Riga – discussions were held about further strengthening military-technical cooperation.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Ghesquiere ordered a pause in the shipment of rockets and ammunition to Ukraine due to concerns about the stockpiles of the U.S. Armed Forces. In particular, this involves Patriot, Gmlrs, and Hellfire missiles.

The decision to pause was made several weeks after Ghesquiere published a memorandum demanding a review of American ammunition stockpiles. Sources explained that over the years of war in Ukraine and nearly two years of U.S. military operations in the Middle East, particularly against the Houthis in Yemen and to protect Israel and allies from Iran, U.S. stockpiles have significantly decreased.

The Pentagon is reconsidering its approaches to military support for Ukraine while adhering to the principle of 'America First'. This was stated by U.S. Department of Defense spokesman Sean Parnell at a briefing, reports 'Glavkom'. He noted that the defense department is offering President Donald Trump a wide range of options for military assistance to Ukraine – in line with his desire to end the war.

As a result of the new aid package from Latvia, the Ukrainian army received modern Patria 6×6 armored personnel carriers, which will contribute to strengthening the country's defense capability. This assistance is an important step in supporting Ukraine and enhancing the qualifications of Ukrainian military personnel.
