Turkish court recognized likes as grounds for divorce: what does it mean

Суд у Туреччині визнав, що лайки в соціальних мережах можуть бути підставою для розлучення: які наслідки це має?

The Turkish court issued a precedent-setting ruling on divorce due to 'likes' on social media. It has been reported that the Turkish Supreme Court reviewed the divorce case of spouses H.B. and S.B., where the woman demanded a divorce due to her husband liking photos of other women.

The court acknowledged that such actions can undermine trust and be grounds for divorce. The woman was awarded compensation and alimony, while the man was deemed more guilty in the destruction of the marriage. This ruling could have a significant impact on future divorce cases in Turkey related to social media activity.

'Conducting actions that undermine trust by liking photos of other women can have serious consequences for the marital union,' the judges emphasized.

Also notable is the important decision in the case of Ukrainian citizen Dmytro Chaban in Alanya. Chaban was convicted for participating in a fatal incident with robbers who robbed him and became victims of violence.
