Zinchenko Departs Ajax
Ukrainian national team defender Oleksandr Zinchenko has left Dutch football club Ajax and is now a free agent. Zinchenko had been with Ajax since February 2026, signing a contract that ran through the end of the 2025/26 season. During his time there, he made only two appearances, totaling 26 minutes on the pitch. Notably, Zinchenko had not played since February 8 due to an injury that required surgery.
Alongside Zinchenko, the following players also left Ajax:
- defender Takehiro Tomiyasu
- goalkeeper Vítězslav Jaroš
Ajax’s press office thanked Vítězslav, Takehiro, and Oleksandr for their commitment and contributions to the club, wishing them success in the next stage of their careers.
Tsygankov Set to Leave Girona
It has also been reported that Ukrainian national team winger Viktor Tsygankov has decided to leave Spanish side Girona. Tsygankov sent an official letter to Girona informing them of his decision. His contract with the club has one year remaining.
Zinchenko’s departure from Ajax highlights ongoing injury struggles that prevented him from making a significant impact on the field. This could shape his future career, as free agency opens up new opportunities to find a club where he can regain his form and return to regular play. A similar situation is unfolding with Viktor Tsygankov, who is also exploring new options as his contract with Girona nears its end. This suggests a wave of Ukrainian footballers becoming active in the transfer market.
As Zinchenko embarks on a new chapter in his career, the landscape of Ukrainian players in the transfer market continues to evolve. In a similar vein, Tsygankov's recent request for a transfer from Girona underscores the shifting dynamics among Ukrainian footballers, highlighting their desire for more competitive opportunities as contracts approach expiration.
