Ukrainian fencer Olena Kravatska shared her personal story about the battle with cancer on her Instagram. The athlete revealed that her mother died from this disease, and the BRCA1 gene mutation is present in her as well. Kravatska urges everyone to undergo regular check-ups for timely cancer detection.
The BRCA1 gene is responsible for DNA repair and helps prevent breast and ovarian cancer. Mutations in this gene can increase the risk of oncological diseases. Olena Kravatska is currently undergoing check-ups every 3-6 months and encourages others to do the same to prevent the development of cancer.
In August this year, Olena lost her mother to cancer. This story highlights the importance of early cancer detection and undergoing regular medical examinations.
