Olympic licenses in freestyle will be contested in Laax

The final stage of qualification for the 2026 Olympics in freestyle, which includes competitions in big air and slopestyle, will take place in Laax, Switzerland, from January 15 to 17, 2026. During this stage, 60 Olympic licenses will be awarded - 30 each for men and women.

Qualification Competitions

Qualification competitions are scheduled for January 15, with finals taking place on January 17. The ranking of athletes for selection is based on results from six stages in slopestyle and four in big air, as well as the results from the 2025 World Championship.

The Ukrainian team consists of Kateryna Kotsar and Orest Kovalенко. It is worth noting that in December 2025, Kateryna Kotsar won silver in big air at the World Cups, which adds optimism for her performances in the upcoming competitions.

This final stage of selection will not only determine the athletes who will receive licenses to participate in the Olympic Games, but it will also serve as an important test of their readiness for competitions at the highest level.

The participation of Ukrainian athletes, particularly Kateryna Kotsar, who already has successful experience in international competitions, underscores the country's potential in freestyle. The results of the selection could significantly impact the development of this sport in Ukraine and increase its popularity among youth.
