U.S. Casualties and Conflict Escalation
U.S. Central Command (Centcom) has confirmed that three American service members were killed and five others seriously wounded during Operation 'Epic Fury' against Iran. The operation involved a series of military actions resulting in significant losses on both sides. Several additional soldiers sustained minor fragmentation wounds and concussions from the combat. Centcom stated that the operation included a strike on an Iranian Jamaran-class frigate, which is now sinking to the bottom of the Gulf of Oman near the Chah-Bahar pier.

On March 1, 2026, the Palau-flagged tanker Skylight was targeted by an Iranian attack drone. This assault on the tanker followed shortly after a series of drone strikes on the Omani port of Duqm. Simultaneously, the emirate of Sharjah also came under a mass attack by Iranian kamikaze drones. One 'Shahed'-type drone struck a shopping mall building in Sharjah, causing structural collapse and a major fire. A neighboring skyscraper also caught fire, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Iran's state news agency IRNA and leading national media have confirmed the deaths of key figures in Iran's defense and security sector. As a result of precision strikes, the regime lost leaders of the army, the Ministry of Defense, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In response to these events, the Iranian government declared 40 days of mourning following the death of Khamenei.
“Major combat operations are ongoing, and our response efforts are as well,” Centcom noted.
