Ivano-Frankivsk is preparing to launch electronic validation of travel throughout the public transport. The city has already purchased the necessary equipment and refused to implement testing only on a few routes. This was announced by the city mayor Ruslan Marcinkiv during a broadcast on the radio «RAI», writes PIK.
Validators will be installed in Ivano-Frankivsk on all routes
According to the mayor, validators were purchased for the entire urban transport system. Initially, the authorities considered a phased launch: they wanted to install equipment on one or two routes and then expand the system.
Later, they abandoned this approach. Now, validators are planned to be installed simultaneously on all routes so that passengers do not encounter different payment rules depending on the bus or trolleybus.
«We purchased validators for all transport and want to install them simultaneously on all routes. Initially, we thought about one or two routes, but we eventually decided to buy them all at once and install them all at once,» said Ruslan Marcinkiv.
The city mayor did not specify a specific date for the launch or the list of payment methods. At the same time, the appearance of validators is expected to make the payment process for trips more automated and allow for tracking the actual number of transported passengers.
Galka card and fare in Ivano-Frankivsk
After the installation of the validators, the «Galka» card will remain an instrument for free travel for privileged categories. According to Marcinkiv, there are no plans to impose restrictions on its users.
In addition, the city authorities are currently not preparing to raise the fare. The mayor acknowledged that the current fare may not fully cover the carriers' expenses, but he called it manageable for residents.
The mass installation of validators does not mean an automatic change in ticket price. The city wants to create a unified trip accounting system on all public transport routes.
Let us remind you that Ivano-Frankivsk is preparing to launch a mobile application «CITY», which will unite key city services in one interface.
