Starting from August, some Oschadbank clients may notice a monthly charge of 150 UAH. The new fee applies not to all cardholders, but only to accounts that have not been used for at least a year. If there are insufficient funds, the bank will only take the available balance and will not incur any debt. This is reported by OBOZ.UA referencing Oschadbank's tariffs.
Why Oschadbank charges UAH 150 from cards starting August 1
The fee of UAH 150 per month can be charged by the bank after 12 months of complete inactivity of the account. This applies to cases where there have been no deposits or withdrawals within a year.
However, not every transaction interrupts this period. Automatic bank fee charges are not considered as a movement of funds that confirms client activity.
Similarly, internal transfers between the main and virtual cards are not taken into account. Therefore, such transactions alone are insufficient for the account to be considered active again.
If less than UAH 150 remains in the inactive account, the bank will not charge the full amount. For example, if there is UAH 20 or UAH 50, only the actual balance will be deducted.
Importantly, due to this fee, the account will not go into the negative. No debt will accumulate from credit funds if the client's own money is insufficient for a full charge.
What rules for top-ups of bank cards will be in effect in 2026
Separately, Ukraine has changed the requirements for depositing cash through payment terminals. Starting June 26, during several such transactions, it is necessary to confirm a mobile phone number.
After entering the number, the user receives a one-time code, without which the transaction will not be completed. The receipt generated after the payment must indicate the full phone number of the payer.
At the same time, SMS confirmation is not required for all payments. Without it, for instance, one can pay taxes and utility services, buy transport tickets, and top-up travel cards.
Mobile top-ups without such confirmation are allowed within a limit of UAH 500 per month for one number. Cash can also be deposited to one's own account after scanning the card at the terminal and confirming the operation with a PIN code or through the banking application.
Earlier, it was reported that Oschadbank would start blocking cards with expired validity from June 30, 2026.
