Oschadbank Card Blockage Begins June 30, 2024

Starting June 30, 2024, Oschadbank will block payment cards that have passed their expiration date. This move marks a return to standard banking rules after a period of automatic card extensions that had been in place since 2022 under martial law. Cards that expired after 2022 will stop working from that date, while those that expired before 2022 were already deactivated earlier.

Which Card Categories Are at Risk

The expiration date is printed on the front of each card in month/year format. For instance, a card showing 05/26 would have stopped working the following month. Oschadbank has identified two categories of cards that may be blocked immediately:

  • Expired cards whose owners conducted any transactions at a teller, ATM, or terminal in September or October 2025.
  • Expired cards with a zero balance that have not been used for an extended period.

To avoid having their card blocked and losing access to funds, Oschadbank customers are advised to get a replacement card. This can be done at a bank branch or online with home delivery. While the card number can be shared freely, the expiration date, three-digit security code, PIN, and passwords must never be disclosed to anyone.

This policy is part of the broader normalization of banking operations following the wartime emergency measures.

Customers who fail to replace their cards before the deadline may face difficulties accessing their money. It is therefore essential to check card expiration dates and take the necessary steps to renew them.

As Oschadbank implements this significant policy change, it's crucial for customers to understand their options for managing expired cards. For instance, how to continue using your account after card expiration can provide valuable insights into maintaining access to funds with other banks. Being informed about these alternatives can help ensure a smooth transition during this period of adjustment.
