Potato prices in Ukraine are expected to be low in October, according to UkrAgroConsult. It is forecasted that the cost per kilogram of potatoes may drop to 10 hryvnias, although many other products have become more expensive this autumn. The Ukrainian Potato Growers Association notes that increased potato production could lead to a decrease in prices.
'Potatoes will never be as cheap again, but I believe we can see a price of 10 UAH per kilogram. But only at the beginning of the season – in October,' said the expert.
Taras Brashtannik from the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association also anticipates a decrease in potato prices due to the active development of its cultivation among the population. The expert emphasizes that these price drops are related to last year's high prices and favorable weather conditions for potato growth in various regions of Ukraine. However, according to him, these low prices will be temporary, as a lack of vegetable storage facilities and rising prices are expected starting in November.
Potatoes in Ukraine are expected to see price increases throughout November due to a lack of storage facilities, but a significant decrease is forecasted for October. The growth in potato production may cause insufficient demand, leading to a drop in prices for this product.
