Alimony Payments and Their Impact on Child Benefits
A person receiving child support whose former partner owes back alimony has now received those overdue payments. As a result, the recipient must notify the Pension Fund of Ukraine within ten days about this alimony income. Importantly, the temporary child benefit will be halted starting the first day of the month following the month in which the alimony was received.
How to Resume Receiving Benefits
If the father stops making alimony payments, the benefit recipient can reapply to the Pension Fund of Ukraine to restart the child benefit. This mechanism ensures continued support for children when family financial circumstances shift.
These updated procedures were established by Resolution No. 189 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, dated February 22, 2006.
This information is crucial for parents receiving child benefits, as it highlights the need to promptly inform social welfare authorities about any changes in financial status. Understanding these rules helps clarify how benefits and alimony interact, which can prevent financial hardship for families with children.
