В Буковелі зафіксовано випадки захворювань: що варто знати мандрівникам

Illness Reports at Bukovel: Key Details and Safety Advice

Social media and news outlets are reporting instances of illness among vacationers at the Bukovel resort. Vladimir Dzhigita, a representative of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention, stated that the situation is being monitored, but official notifications of mass poisonings from hospitals have not been received.

The news outlet "Glavcom" published information on the illnesses, citing BBC News Ukraine. Galina Yakushko, a video producer for BBC News Ukraine, fell ill on the fourth day of her stay in Bukovel. Affected tourists have reported symptoms including:

  • Severe diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • High fever
  • Weakness
  • Nausea
  • Stomach upset

Galina Yakushko was hospitalized after calling an ambulance, with treatment costing 8,000 hryvnias—6,000 for an IV drip and 2,000 for additional medication. The ambulance doctor noted that cases of illness in Bukovel occur quite frequently. Yakushko suggested she may have been infected by tap water while brushing her teeth.

Bukovel is Ukraine's largest ski resort, making these reports particularly concerning for the regional tourism sector. According to Vladimir Dzhigita, the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention continues to monitor the situation. However, no official reports of poisoning have been filed by medical institutions, which are required to notify authorities of mass illness cases.

Guidelines for Preventing Infection

In light of the situation, the disease control center has issued recommendations to prevent intestinal infections. Key advice includes:

  • Washing hands with soap before eating and after visiting public places;
  • Consuming only safe drinking water;
  • Avoiding food and beverages of questionable quality, especially in crowded tourist areas;
  • Storing perishable food items in a refrigerator;
  • Seeking medical attention immediately if symptoms appear.

The 2025 ski season in the Carpathians did not start on time due to a warm winter and lack of snow, though some resorts, including Bukovel, opened before the New Year. Given the illness reports, it is crucial for visitors to follow medical guidelines and exercise caution regarding food and water choices. Monitoring one's health and seeking prompt medical help can prevent serious complications. The ongoing surveillance by the regional disease control center underscores the importance of this issue for tourist safety in the region.
